research: a thread

Recently I've written something - perhaps more so a culmination of ideas rather than a finite research proposal or theory. If you're someone that's noticed an uprise of attention fragmentation, and ADHD-like behavior in your peers or younger generations, then this paper attempts to better understand the who, the what, the when, the where, the how, and the why. Unfortunately, my most recent hurdle in this endeavor is picking a lane. I'd obviously love to divest infinitely and explore tangential topics until I run out of them, but that is not the optimal path. I've decided to take a halt on the professionalism of this project for now, and will be documenting whatever further thoughts I have about it here!

consumerism bang in past decade bc of media exposure via short form content and overall phone addiction = more susceptible to content being advertisement and new advertisement thru influencers and ppl they watch —> two in one influence to purchase == maximum minimalism!! consumerism as manner of living

attention fragmentation and its effect on dating : why situationships are on the rise for the first time ever = people with fragmented attention spans crave dopamine hits and avoid commitment as weve seen with purchasing patterns as a result ~ this results in adults participating in noncommital pretend relationships with all the good parts and none of the pressure of a long term investment

people reverting back to old ways (2026=2016 movement, 2016 lip makeup trend coming back, hair colors, 2016 filters and music, going back to the mall!!, movie theaters (might also be because of actor recycling for every hit movie for a WHILE and mainstream media having trends up showing up to theater dressed up (minions, barbie, etc)

football team liking bc of association with money in sports betting promoted heavily in mainstream media from a young age

minimum wage had to increase bc cost of living is more expensive, maybe smth to do w rise of consumerism (past decade/ minimum wage / cost of living) due to consumerism pushed by modern media and algorithm towards consumption and advertising—> lower income groups are becoming poorer because they might be influenced to engage in higher than usual activity due to short form media consumption.
